Pulau Aman Trip - 06/12/09 -

On my recent Birthday, The members of Rotaract Club of Penang went to Pulau Aman for a day trip. Pulau Aman is situated nearby one of the jetties at butterworth. We pushed off with 2 cars at 9 am in the morning and drove straight to the jetty to catch a ride to Pulau Aman. In order to go to Pulau Aman, one must take a 20 minutes boat ride from the jetty to the island itself.

In Kelvin Thum's car =)

Pulau Aman is actually a fishing village and a tourist attraction spot. The place is mostly inhabited by malay vilagers that earn their daily living from the ocean. Many locals come to Pulau Aman to fish as it is a cooling and peaceful village whereby they can enjoy the scenery and the freshness of the ocean brezze.

Pulau Aman closeup ...

As you can see, Pulau Aman is just like another simple fishing village with coconut trees and houses made out of wood and also bricks

Places of interest in Pulau Aman

Well, actually we all came to Pulau Aman not for fishing or to enjoy the boat ride but our main goal was to try out their famous MEE UDANG. Legend said that the Mee Udang is made of the freshest prawns in the whole Malaysia, the most sour lime in whole of peninsular Malaysia, the hottest chilli there is to offer and also the the most succulent mee ... okay, enough of bullcrap ... i was over exaggerating. However, the prawn is really fresh and huge and it is quite cheap =)

People selling fresh fishes...

TADA !!!

We all odered 3 Mee Udang and 3 Mee Goreng so that we could have a variety of Food and everybody can share and try out the difference between the two types of cooking style ...

Poser Kelvin while on the way back to the jetty.

We then took off to Bagan Lalang for lunch. The place we had lunch was packed as it was a famous restaurant whereby many visitors come to try out their famous 'GEI KIA' (little chicken). Although the place was packed, to my surprise, the food was served within 15 minutes only because there are limited cooking style for every dish (thank GOD!!!)... so they can practically prepare everything in a huge quantity at once.

'TU BO SUI' (Octopus)

After our delicious meal, we all headed back home... it was a fun Rotaract outing for it was an eye opener to many of us. I would hope for more outings like that in the future =)
